How birch/cliff copper scrap is priced

Birch/Cliff is priced as a percentage of the LME or a discount per tonne below it. Because it holds less copper than bare bright wire and needs more refining, the discount is wider than for millberry. The tested copper content, the share of wire and solids, contamination, location, freight and payment terms all move the price.

A No. 2 price close to the LME is not realistic, and a price far below it is a warning sign. Ask for the basis in writing.
